Welcome to History of the NPS Blog

Hello everyone! We are Mark and Robert Glowacky and we’d like to welcome you to our blog! We’re exploring the history of the National Parks as 2016 marks the 100th year of the National Park Service. Starting in January, we’ll be bringing you multi-media content about the creation, development, and stewardship of America’s greatest idea; the National Park System.

12232877_898003921525_5586004886154517765_oMark – I have deep passion for the protection of public lands. I have been lucky enough to be able to visit many of the NPS’s national historic sites and parks in New England. I hope to use this blog and its related social media outlets to explore digital history, improve my writing, and research a subject dear to me; the National Park Service.

11958278_10153194429885975_706827966136205229_oBob – I spent two summers in Yellowstone National Park working for a concessions company and volunteering with the National Park Service in my spare time. Yellowstone is our nation’s first national park and it’s full of rich cultural heritage and natural beauty which inspired me to work with my brother Mark to share it’s history with you!

Tune in to our monthly podcasts and video posts where we’ll walk you through the park service’s history. We’d like to interview historians, park employees, and park goers about their experiences in the National Park system.

Feel free to comment, tweet, or send us an email with your comments, questions or suggestions! We want to hear from you! And we hope you enjoy our blog and join us in celebrating the centennial of the National Park Service!
